High temperatures and heat waves are on the increase. As temperatures climb rails expand. If that thermal expansion becomes too great, a sudden track distortion occurs to release the compressive forces in the rail, compromising track alignment and rail traffic safety.
The sudden shift in track alignment as the track buckles and kinks in the heat creates ground vibrations as both ties/sleepers and ballast move. By continuously monitoring for the acoustic signatures of moving track and ballast, our system delivers vital, near-instantaneous warnings of significant track movements together with their location, empowering operators to take immediate action and effectively mitigate these increasing temperature risks.
This application is under development. We welcome enquiries from infrastructure owners/maintainers for further information.
