Sink holes / Subsidence detection

Sink holes and subsidence are an unseen risk for railways which in some cases can be rapidly revealed compromising track stability and integrity. Sudden shifts in track alignment as it’s support disappears puts the safety of rail traffic, passengers and freight at risk.

A sudden shift in track alignment caused by an appearing sink hole or subsidence creates ground vibrations as track, ballast and supporting materials move. By continuously monitoring for the acoustic signatures of moving ground, our system delivers vital, near-instantaneous warnings of significant earth and track movements together with their location, empowering operators to take action to mitigate these ground risks.

This application is under development. We welcome enquiries from infrastructure owners/maintainers for further information.
